Alright, let's get one thing straight: this whole Disney vs. YouTube TV thing is a freakin' mess. Another month, another blackout. Are we really surprised? Disney's pulling their channels—ABC, ESPN, the whole shebang—because they can't agree on money, offcourse. They did this song and dance with DirecTV not long ago, and now YouTube TV's getting the same treatment.
YouTube TV is refusing to make an exception for election day, like Disney requested. Their justification? "Confusion from its customers should ABC return for a day before being blacked out again the next day." Give me a break. So, we're supposed to believe their concern is our confusion? Please. It's about leverage, plain and simple. Who's going to cave first?
The Streaming Wars: A Game of Chicken
It's like watching two spoiled kids fight over a toy. Except the toy is our entertainment, and we're the ones getting punished. YouTube TV's whining about Disney using the same "tactic" as before... as if they wouldn't do the exact same thing if the tables were turned.
And then there's the whole "vast majority" of subscribers not watching ABC on election days claim. How convenient. Where's the data? Did they actually ask people, or are they just pulling numbers out of thin air to justify their stubbornness?
Fubo's CEO, David Gandler, is out here saying their merger with Hulu + Live TV won't cause any overlap in users because Fubo's all about sports and Hulu's about, uh, everything else. Okay, sure. It's like saying a pizza place and a burger joint won't compete because one sells pizza and the other sells burgers. People eat both, dude. He mentions they are exploring the ESPN ecosystem. I'm sure they are. News: Disney-YouTube TV, Fubo, Bob Trumpy and more

Bob Trumpy: A Legend Passes
Okay, shifting gears completely because this is actually important. Bob Trumpy died. The guy was a legend. Four Super Bowls with Enberg? That's serious broadcasting cred. And before that, he was a Bengals TE. The "father of Cincinnati sports talk." Cris Collinsworth looked up to him. End of story. Sometimes you just need to acknowledge the greats.
But back to this streaming nonsense. It's all about squeezing every last penny out of us, the viewers. We're paying more than ever for TV, and what do we get? Blackouts, disputes, and a constant feeling that we're being ripped off.
ESPN Unlimited is $30 a month now? For just ESPN? Are you kidding me? That's practically a cable bill. It's like they're trying to make us go back to illegal streaming sites. Honestly, I'm starting to see the appeal...
The Future? More of the Same
So, what's the solution? There isn't one. Not really. The streaming services will keep fighting, the prices will keep going up, and we'll keep getting screwed. Maybe the government needs to step in and regulate this mess. Then again, trusting the government to fix anything is probably even more delusional.
